Northwest Indiana Youth Collision (NWIYC)

Youth Collision Packet

I am fascinated to see that you have interest in learning about and potentially engaging in a fantastic ministry that is spreading throughout Northwest Indiana.

Northwest Indiana Youth Collision (NWIYC) is a great ministry that the Lord has blessed me with the privilege of leading. This ministry started out of my God-given conviction that the youth in this area should be more “together” than they currently are. For example, how many of us (youth leaders too!) are right down the street from each other and don’t know each other? Imagine the resources that can be tapped if we utilize the particular gifts and passions that we have been given for the youth of our area.

NWIYC intends to bring the youth of our area “together” through monthly gatherings. These gatherings typically occur on a Saturday towards the end of the month and usually last for three hours. The events put together are intended to vary month by month, based on the understanding that not EVERY student likes or finds interest in EVERY-thing. With this in mind, the events vary to cater to the various students interests represented in our youth ministries.

On thing I wish to stress: we do not wish to encourage students to withdraw from their home-church student ministry program at any point. As a fellow youth leader, I understand that you work hard to “keep” your students, and I have felt the pain of a student leaving the ministry. NWIYC i simply intended to be an aid to the youth leaders in our area. Imagine if you didn’t have to worry about putting together a monthly event for your students? Imagine if all you had to do was put together your weekly gatherings and curriculum (and, to be honest, with devotional time given at each monthly gathering, you can be helped with the “curriculum” too)? Wouldn’t that be a stress relief? This is exactly what NWIYC intends to accomplish, all the while bringing unity and networking to the youth ministries (and churches) represented.

I hope this brief “synopsis” has wetted your appetite and peaked your interest. If you are interested in becoming involved in NWIYC, please call me at 219-762-0084 or email me at

I look forward to working with you and getting to know you! Blessing to you and your ministry in the Name of Jesus Christ!

In Christ,

Jason Pena

Mission of NWIYC

The mission of Northwest Indiana Youth Collision (NWIYC) is to bring the youth of our area together as one, regardless of denominational preference, by embracing biblical principles in evangelism, discipleship, and outreach by embracing some of the models used by Covenant Youth Collision (CYC) in North Chicago (Executive Director- Josh Hiben). MWIYC seeks to be an aid to all youth ministries/workers in need of help planning monthly events, networking with youth leaders throughout the area, and ultimately, ministering to various needs of students.

Vision of NWIYC

The vision of Northwest Indiana Youth Collision is to see the students and student ministry leaders growing in their knowledge of and friendship with one another for the purpose of impacting NWI with the great news of the Gospel. We believe “a cord of [many] strands is not easily broken” (Ecclesiastes4:12); therefore, we should seek to add as many “strands” as possible.
