What We Believe

This We Believe….

1) We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, though written by men, was supernaturally inspired by God so that all its words are the written true revelation of God; it is therefore inerrant in the originals and authoritative in all matters. [2 Timothy 3:16]

2) We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are one in essence but distinct in person and function. [Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:13]

3) We believe that the Father is the first person of the Trinity. The universe was created and is continuously sustained by Him. Human beings were created by Him in the very image of God. However, Adam and Eve, the first humans sinned by willfully disobeying God, bringing sin and death into the world. As a result, all persons are sinners, and they are therefore subject to God’s judgment. [Genesis 1:1-27, 3:1-24, Romans 3:23]

4) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity. He was born of the Virgin Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is God who became man in order to offer Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins on the cross. He rose again bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where He now intercedes for all believers. As a result of what Christ has done for us, we believe that each person can be saved only through the work of Christ, through repentance of sin and by faith alone in Him as Savior. [Matthew 1:18-21, John 1:29, John 3:16-17, 1Corinthians 15:1-8, Hebrews 7:23-25]

5) We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is the giver of all life, active in the creating and ordering of the universe. The Holy Spirit restrains sin and He indwells all who are born again and sanctifies all believers. Therefore, every believer regenerated by the Holy Spirit is responsible to live in obedience to the Word of God in separation from sin. [Genesis 1:2, John 3:3-5, Romans 8:12-14, Galatians 5:16-25]

6) We believe in the personal bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the coming Kingdom of God, the bodily resurrection and the everlasting blessedness of those who are saved through faith in Christ. [1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, Revelation 19:11-16, 21:1-7]

7) We believe that the Church is ONE because in all its diversity the Church has one Lord, Jesus Christ who is the source of its unity. The Church is HOLY because it participates in the holiness of Christ and it is the Temple of God. The Church is UNIVERSAL because the Church is for all humankind. The Church is also SENT on a divine mission to be the agent through whom Christ’s ministry of reconciling people to God is continued. [1Corinthians 12:12-13, 2 Corinthians 5:18, Ephesians 2:14-22, 5:25-27]
